To use what you have: resources versus potential

Apr 19, 2024

A synonym for the word "potential" is capacity, possibility. In order to have the ability to deal with everyday challenges, we must use the resources at our disposal, such as our mind, adaptability, physical strength and endurance, specific knowledge and skills, and so on.

Do we realize how many resources we actually have available? We are accustomed to reasoning in a scarcity mode. Humanity is growing dramatically, and the planet is becoming overcrowded. Natural resources are finite and not enough for everyone. A large number of people compete for a certain privilege - a good job, popularity, love if you will, or something else. Few are those who have the real ability to influence global processes. Nothing depends on us, and so on and so forth. These and many other similar beliefs shape our way of thinking and acting. This is a fact!

If we remain in these beliefs, what do we achieve? Do we achieve anything or do we live day after day with the feeling of a constant struggle, which is stronger than us and we cannot avoid it? Do we live with the resignation that "it is what it is" and it is "given" to us to live briefly and nothing depends on us? "Whatever it is" we constantly hear. Do we accept it as valid or not? The answer to this question lies precisely in the resources that can increase our potential to achieve something new and different. Resources with which we can totally go into a different orbit, realize our calling, and live with the feeling of satisfaction and happiness from what we have achieved.

The time we live in gives us many resources.

Psychology, as a very new science, gives us knowledge that helps us explain how changes in the world around us resonate with our behavior and mental processes. Concepts like neuroplasticity, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), positive psychology, neuro-agility, psychotherapy are becoming increasingly understandable to a wide audience and are recognized as additional resources on the path to realizing our potentials.

Happiness Manager is an assistant in the same direction. The science of happiness provides knowledge and skills for managing our sense of a good life and realizing our potentials. Happiness is no longer an abstract concept that we associated in the past with something transient and childish. Happiness is not in achieving one dream. Happiness is not a goal, but a way of life. It is the very path. Happiness is the way we want to live and work. Happiness Manager provides resources to companies and people to help them in thought and action so that they can achieve a conscious and happy life at work and in general.

And that is why I have a positive attitude towards the time we live in! Because it gives us many new resources! 10-15 years ago, no one talked about employee happiness. Satisfaction was talked about the most... once a year, or twice. Mainly on paper and in presentations for the directors. Here comes the new time not only with its challenges such as natural disasters, pandemics, wars, but also with its new and modern resources to help us navigate our lives in a new and better way.

The highest result of an evolution is adaptation. Adaptability is the modern soft skill that is at the heart of success.
